FrançaisStroke networks in Europe
How can Europe’s stroke services become easier to see, connect and improve together?
The problem
Services are distributed across hospitals and countries. Information about capabilities and pathways is not consistently connected. A shared, maintained map can make those gaps easier to discuss.
Mapping is a starting point: a listed capability does not establish current availability, national completeness or individual patient access.

Choose a country, inspect the source evidence and see where information is still missing. Stroke unit, intravenous thrombolysis and endovascular thrombectomy are separate fields; unknown remains unknown.

Prepared inventory snapshot reviewed for integration on 2 November 2026: 45 country entries; local review is pending. Source read dates are shown within each hospital’s evidence. A compilation marked complete is not nationally validated.
Belgium: recognition, capability and coordination
Belgium in that prepared snapshot is a partial inventory. Its 35 source records include four sites without resolved coordinates. S1/S2 recognition, treatment capability and ESO certification are distinct; none establishes real-time service availability.

The historical source inventory, reused for this example on 2 November 2026, illustrates the distribution of 19 centres; row-specific review dates are absent. Its classifications and approximate coordinates need current review.

The initial contribution is bounded: review the current country inventory, identify missing or duplicate sites, suggest corrections and provide dated public sources. Capability confirmation and country completeness are separate questions.
One agreed collaborator per country will coordinate that review. No national collaborator is announced here. Türkiye is outside this map’s scope.
Review your country’s sources, then send the correction with its country, site and dated source to eurostrokes@gmail.com.
